Shari Schultz was born on Halloween night, and Shelley Smilen entered into the world on Christmas Day. If ever two individuals were born to "party and celebrate," these two certainly fit the bill! Toss in over 30 years of combined experience in Event Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Sales and Human Resources in the corporate environment and the public sector...BINGO, you've found the co-owners of Ventura County's most successful event planning company since 1990.

Recently voted "Best of Ventura County," NEW DIRECTIONS EVENT PLANNING, INC. is proud to be a member of the International Special Events Society; Meeting Professionals International; National Association of Catering Executives, and the Association of Bridal Consultants, as well as two local chambers of commerce: Simi Valley Chamber and the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village Regional Chamber. Our 1800 sq. ft. office, showroom, and warehouse facility is located in Simi Valley, where we have been greeting corporate and private clients since January of 1996.

The creative staff at NEW DIRECTIONS offers full service event planning - everything from catering to photography; flowers to entertainment; rentals to special effects...and everything in between. We thoroughly enjoy designing an entire event from the onset, but we also gladly provide individual services. Whatever our client needs to create a successful event...that's where we fit in!

Most of the events created by NEW DIRECTIONS fall into two categories - corporate and social. Staying on top of the hottest ideas and latest trends within our industry guarantees successful events across the board! We enjoy a wide array of clients: national and international corporations; small businesses; non-profit groups; shopping centers; associations; government agencies, and private individuals. On one end of the spectrum, our staff might create a unique celebration for a high profile rock star, while the next day we may coordinate a walk-a-thon to raise money for a charitable organization. One weekend may be filled with bar mitzvahs and weddings, while the next is busy with corporate picnics and meetings.
